Self Assessments & Reflections

On this page, you will find the results of three different self-assessments regarding my learning style, personality traits, and top five strengths. Listed with these strengths are my personal reflections on my results for each assessment.

Learning Style

Visual Learner

Visual learners learn by reading or seeing images, diagrams, or infographics. They are often organized, neat, and remember information by seeing.

Knowing my learning style is beneficial to me currently as a student. It helps me understand how to maximize how I study, retain information, and eventually apply knowledge from classes to projects, my Capstone, and fieldwork experiences.

Sensing and feeling are essential traits to have as a future OT. In order to make decisions that are in my client's best interest it will be important to consider the facts of the case as well as how the client and their caretakers feel.

Strengths

Top 5 from Strengths Finder 2.0

DISCIPLINE

People with discipline thrive in an organized and orderly environment. They set up routines and focus on timelines and deadlines. They break long-term projects into specific short-term steps. I feel I will use this skill to break down the complex steps of developing and implementing my Capstone and meet project deadlines.

RELATOR

This describes a person's attitude toward their relationships. They form close relationships with people and derive strength from being around close friends. This will help me as an OT to focus on building strong relationships with clients and members of the interprofessional team.

HARMONY

People who are harmonizers look for consensus and don't enjoy conflict. They see what people have in common to try to steer others away from confrontation and toward reconciliation. I can use this skill to resolve and limit conflicts that could occur while implementing my Capstone either with clients or staff members at my Capstone site.

ACHIEVER

People with achiever talents have a constant need for attainment. They must accomplish something meaningful every day and rarely seek recognition for their accomplishments. This skill helps me to stay motivated and push through difficult tasks in order to meet my goals.

CONSISTENCY

People with strong consistency skills are aware of the need to treat people the same so the scales do not tip too far in any person's favor. This skill will help me to treat everyone I encounter with respect and see them as an equal.
